Where is Whidbey Island located?

You’ve heard of Whidbey Island, but you’re still trying to figure it out….”Where is Whidbey Island located?”

  • Look at a map of the USA. Go to the upper left and find Washington State.
  • Now find Seattle. Wade into the water to your west…that’s Puget Sound.
  • Now sail North. You will run right into the southern tip of Whidbey Island.
  • That long squiggly island in the middle of the Puget Sound.
  • That’s us!

How to get here

Boat’s & Bridge- Don’t worry! You don’t have to take a boat. But you can! We have a ferry system that goes from the south end of the island to the sailing east “big city life” landing in Everett/Mukilteo. Check out the Clinton Ferry Schedule here. There’s another ferry that goes from the middle of the island sailing west to the great wilderness of the Olympic Peninsula. Check out the Coupeville ferry schedule here. But you don’t have to live your life by the ferry schedule.

There’s also a bridge!  A beautiful bridge on the north end of the Island called Deception Pass. It’s about 1 hour and 20 mins hour to drive from the bridge to the southern tip.  2 hours to Drive from Oak Harbor to Seattle. 2.5 if traffic in the city is bad.

Flights- International flights out of Seattle’s Sea-Tac Airport. Some people fly out of the calmer and smaller Everett Paine Field and some people even drive up to Vancouver, BC if the flight seems to be cheaper or better timing.

And best of all, there’s a convenient shuttle from Sea-Tac airport to our island. Or maybe have a friend pick you up. You could also strategize getting here via Island Transit, our free public transportation. It takes patience and coordinating, but it’s possible.

What’s on the island?

Everyone will enjoy

The island is full of incredible sights, such as the Deception Pass Bridge, stunning beaches, and lush forests. Whidbey Island is a popular destination for tourists who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

There are tons of beaches and hiking trails to explore for various fitness capabilities. It is also home to a variety of wildlife, including bald eagles, sea lions, and otters. Options for kayaking and paddle-boarding for the experts and the novices.

And for those that don’t enjoy the great outdoors there are farmer’s markets, unique restaurants, and gorgeous waterfront vacation rentals. There is a vibrant arts community with painters, glass, sculpture, and pottery artists and tons of arts festivals throughout the year.
